about
Part III is dedicated to Alana, Sophia, and their children, and Olivia.
Kappa, Illinois is a very small farm community about 20 minutes from Bloomington-Normal. This is a personal reflection and a song influenced by the people who work in the town's largest draw in terms of bringing people to the area: the Kappa Kabanna. Parts I and II are a personal reflection, some of Part II is a protest against a loss of humanity, and Part III is set at the end of the night when heading back through the gently sloping, green land of the farms that are near the club, down I-55 and back toward a population center. Not many stay or live in Kappa, but they make their living there. It shouldn't be forgotten.

Part II:
All the coins in this dresser
Are enough to make me sore
I have clean clothes and a warm bed
Who might ask for more?
I’ve been going out for myself
Trying to find something to hold onto
An oasis in the blaze
Stemming my urges
Making connections
So what if the the shine doesn’t last
And I’m tailing off fast
The stains on my mattress
Can’t really mend the hole
Or paste the cracks in the walls
where there’s no foundation
So come on, pour me a drink
A whiskey and coke should be enough I think
Le début de another wasted night here
If I suffocate from whiskey or breasts
Please let les gens know my final request
Reminding everyone nothing changes si vous êtes pauvre
Civil or not, we’re all in chains
For too many it’s everything ventured, nothing gained
That won’t change with a few signs of revolution
The beggars don’t get none, they won’t pay your restitution
When the kids get trucked down to Mexico
Well the wolf is out of sight
The sheep is out of mind
However you gut it
it’s all the same
I’ve been going out for myself
Trying to find something to hold onto
An oasis in the blaze
Stemming my urges
Making connections
So what if the the shine doesn’t last
And I’m tailing off fast
However the dice lands it’s all the same.
Wherever you land, it’ll never change
