Oh, where are you now
Pussy willow that smiled on this leaf?
When I was alone
You promised the stone from your heart
My head kissed the ground
I was half the way down, treading the sand
Please, lift a hand
I'm only a person whose armbands beat
An' his head hangs tall
Won't you miss me? Wouldn't you miss me at all?
The poppy birds way,
Swing twigs coffee brands around
Brandish her wand
With a feathery tong
My head kissed the ground
I was half the way down, treading the sand
Please, please lift a hand
I'm only a person,
With Eskimo chain
I tattooed my brain all the way
Won't you miss me? Wouldn't you miss me at all?

A Hope
06:22
|
|||
I hope all my friends are doing well.
Even the ones I lost in the digital ether.
It’s hard to maintain any sort of anything,
With the way I used to be.
From St. Paul to Novia Scotia,
I blazed a trail of caring, breaking hearts.
Still looking for the type of position
That I would be….if I didn’t fall so far
Hope that your sons are well In Baltimore.
Hope the wife is smiling in Indianapolis.
‘Cause wherever I go, my sadness will follow.

Note to River

We were so close,
Sharing our dreams, our questions, our wishes.
I thought you were the one,
And after things ended, I still cared for you.
You moved from the suburbs to Evanston, near my old house.
I thought we would resume our friendship,
But the fallout had already commenced.
The distance one travels
Squares with the speed of light,
But the distance once…. lengthens with time…apart
I still wish the best for you,
I hope you know I still care.
And if you’re in the area, now that you’ve moved, give me a call.
We can be awkward and catch up,
With all the things that we got,
Or we could just sit over coffee,
And reminisce over memories that have died.
I hope you’re well, you deserve the best,
In life and happiness

Red Dress:
Red dress,
Caught in the ice storm.
Summer leaves it to dry.
Hope everyone is well.
Hope everyone can smile,
The specter won’t leave me behind.
Bad Bill of Goods:
I’ve been sold a bad bill of goods,
Five years to get the magic diploma.
Strange babysitting years,
No benefits, no rides (X2)
Somewhere there’s a gearhead,
Who knows science, and makes six figures.
I thought I could pass for a writer,
But that ain’t enough dough to bake my bread.
Better Than:
You know the problem,
You vote to fix it.
They don’t hear the cries.
Everyone’s stuck in a similar system.
Better than is all we got to survive. (X2)
Red Dress Revisited:
Red dress woman, her name was Katie.
She’s helping the next generation.
I hope you all are smiling.

Godspeed home, Godspeed home,
Take care,
That you don’t end up alone.
Godspeed home, Godspeed home,
Take care,
So you don’t end up alone.

When I Look at My Woman

When I look at my woman,
And she’s sleeping oh so tight.
I wonder how I get so lucky,
To have her in my crumbling life.

A Second Hope

Tryin’ to make something beautiful,
With no fingers or skills.
I hope my love thinks this is beautiful.
