This is a project I originally conceived and recorded in March of 2022. It was intended to be the first of a series of experiments with Paulstretching, (the second release was to be percussion, and I still have those on my phone and one more fleshed out GarageBand track. I may get to those at some point).

For this release, I improvised for a couple minutes with my Native American and willow flutes, respectively. Paulstretching the records kept and expanded the character of the flutes into ambient soundscapes, to which I added virtual synths (one of which, the one I used on Ash Tree, I did not transfer from my old computer, so upon revisiting these tracks I chose a replacement from Arturia Analog Labs' vast catalog). I normalized the tracks in Audacity. The result is immersive soundscapes a la early Tangerine Dream. It is very wintry music, tinged with darkness, appropriate for the 2023 Winter Solstice. Enjoy.
